1. What is unrestricted stock? </b>
Unrestricted stock precisely, is Stock Art that is found and can be used under an unrestricted license. Owners of this Stock grant full permission for artists to use these materials in any kind of project, including but not limited to commercial projects, layouts, advertisement, packaging, gigantography, etc., both manipulated or "as is".
You are not required to obtain permission prior to using the stock off site and the only requirements are that the stock provider be notified and credited.2. What is not unrestricted stock? </b>
Unrestricted stock however,
is not meant to be sold in packs or redistributed.Fall out of the category of unrestricted, any piece of stock for which, upon use, permission of any kind must be asked from the owner.
3. What is the purpose of this community? </b>
Our driven purpose is to provide a quality resource center for artists of all flavors, and to provide a friendly interactive environment for all stock artists who wish to participate. DeviantART is an art community like no other, and helping each other learn, share, and grow are concepts that should be exercised within the sphere of art and within our day to day lives. This is no dumping ground for misfit resources: we put care and thought into our images, just as you do yours. It is our goal to help you realize your artistic vision, and provide the tools you need to get there.
4. How do I join? </b>
You can join
Unrestricted-Stock in two different categories:
a) Account-Membership · </b>
for all stock artists having a gallery where all stock is unrestricted.
b) Partial-Membership · </b>
for all stock artists who have a restricted stock account but would like to submit stock of their own to our galleries, as unrestricted.
(This stock must not be found anywhere else where restrictions apply, which means we'll have it submitted "in exclusive".)
Applicants for both categories must send an email to
unrestricted.stock.da@gmail.com, stating their wish to have their stock uploaded to our galleries. They must also
note US with the subject: "Join: Account" or "Join: Partial", and a member of our staff will review your gallery to make sure your material complies with our quality standards (i.e.: size, resolution, grain, focus, etc).
Whether or not you're accepted to join us, a note will be sent back to you.
If you're accepted, you must then read our "License Agreement" and comment under it letting us know you have read, understood and agree with them.
If at any time members decide to change the rules for their stock, they should notify us to be removed from our directory.
5. What types of resolution are acceptable? </b>
The minimum acceptable would be a size of 600x600 at 72 dpi making it usable for digital media (on screen), but we would recommend higher resolutions such as 2000x3008 at 300 dpi and higher, that make the stock images apt for offset (in the case of layout design, advertisement, etc).
6. Once I join, how do I submit? </b>
Submissions are only a presentation card of your own gallery. We don't want quantity but quality. We're here to promote your Stock Account and help artists reach Unrestricted Stock more easily. Therefore we only want to have your best. A maximum of 4 submissions per artists monthly will be allowed. To send your submissions, note us with the subject "Submit".
7. What kind of stock are you in the search for? </b>
Anything from stock photographs, vector art graphics, 3dimensional graphics, brushes, textures and fonts. Unleash your creativity and browse the internet to see what graphic and web designers are in the need of to create their layouts, advertisement, packaging, logos, etc. You can give a look at other well established resource sites and see what are the most downloaded images. But also remember, this is deviantART and our community is the home of thousands of digital artists, so the best reference of what is needed, you'll find it here.
8. Why some artists/designer prefer unrestricted? </b>
Because artists spend a great deal of time working on their artwork, and would like to have it uploaded not only on deviantART but in their own sites, or to other art sites without having to ask for permission. Because some web and graphic designers and developers working in low cost free lance project need affordable resources. Because many stock artists get a great deal of satisfaction to have their images used in diversity of projects.
9. What kinda uses will be given to my stock and what will not be allowed? </b>
Please refer to our License Agreement to answer your questions.
If you're under a Full Membership, yes. Although we would rather prefer you submit exclusive stock to avoid conflicts at a later time if you change your own gallery's rules.
As a Partial Member you might not submit to our gallery what is already in your own. That would create a conflict of your own restriction rules and ours, and would lead to undesired copyright violations from users.
